enough

i turned fifty last week

when i woke up on the morning of my fiftieth birthday, the sun was shining and the birds were singing and that was all i needed. that was enough to make this girl smile. there weren't any party hats with pinching elastic chin straps or noise makers that make you question if a duck is dying a slow death when you hear them {because i said "i don't want those things"} but there was love, so much love and seriously, that was and will always be enough.

to those of you who helped in creating a once in a lifetime birthday gift for me {you know who you are} you are so much more than enough. you are beyond amazing and i can't thank you enough. seriously, i can't. oh, and in case you're wondering, fifty feels greats and fits perfectly. i think i like being part of the club i was so graciously welcomed into. so, if you're already a member, howdy partner and if you'll be joining me in the future, i'll save you a spot…right next to me.

  1. I'll be joining you soon in the half century club and I, too, am grateful. Happy Birthday!! -

Your husband is a pretty terrific guy, as you already know. I loved that he took the time to get something together for you that he knew would mean so much.

  3. I missed the word cloud. I'm so disappointed. But it fit you perfectly, and what a sweet thing for your husband to do! I'm proud to be in the 50 club with you (at least for 5 more years!)

  5. Welcome to the club. I joined 3 years ago and love it. Not loving the hot flashes and a few other things, but all else is awesome!

  6. I like that you honor the word "enough". Life is wonderful when we can accept that it is enough.

your day so extra wonderful. Keep on celebrating.

  7. I'm so happy your birthday was just wonderful, that you liked your surprise (you have a good man there!) and I have to say -- I loved my 50s! I suspect you will too! Let the celebration continue!

  8. Yes, the love of family and friends is the best gift. So glad you had a happy 50th (although you could easily pretend it was your 30th and none of us would be the wiser ;)

  10. first of all, there's no way you're 50. you look younger than me, girl. second, i'm so glad your birthday gift turned out. what a special thing that was. and for a special person. i hope you were able to read the individual responses to your husband's initial e-mail request, because i wanted you to know personally how much you mean to me. sorry i missed wishing you a happy birthday on the day. i'm glad it was good. next time we get together, we'll definitely have to raise a glass to 50!!
